-Our test on multilication and division of fractions is Tuesday.   A practice test was given out today.  We will go over it tomorrow in class as a review.

Science 7

-Today we learnt about the rock cycle.  How rocks are formed, and the 3 main families of rocks.  We also spent some time talking about soil and how it is formed.

-Today we practiced dividing fractions.

-Test will be Monday or tuesday.  We will be doing a practice test first.

Science

-Students should be writing their procedure and hypothesis this week.

-I am meeting with students this week to evaluate their variables and questions.

-Today we talked about how soil is formed.  Students are two questions on the back of the first page of their booklet.

-Proposal should be done for the science fair.

-Students should be doing the experiment at home this week and next.

-We reviewed reducing before multiplying fractions today.

-We learnt the two methods for dividing fractions.  (section 3.6 of text)

-At home they should be writing their steps and getting the materials they will need for their STEM project.

-Today we reviewed how to multiply fractions using a rectangle model.  See the video tutorial if you need a review.

-We were introduced to how to use <<des jetons>> to model multiplying fractions.

-Thursday and Friday students will work on using the <<old school>> method of multiplying the numerators and multiplying the denominators.

 

Science

-Students should have their topic for the STEM fair chosen for Monday of next week.   Remember that you need to have 2 subject areas in your project. (science, math, technology, and engineering).

-Proposal forms have been passed out (also attached below) and are due at the start of next week.

Math 8E1

-Today we reviewed fractions.   Multiplying fractions using a number line and rectangle were introduced. 

-Homework P. 113 Q 6 using rectangle model.

-A video tutorial for adding fractions using a rectangle model has been posted at the following link.  It is the first so please let me know if this review method is helpful.  I will try to get a tablet set up so the next one is neater.  (left handed person using a mouse with their right hand to draw.   Watch the video and you will see what I am talking about. )  :)

-Monday proposal journal entry is due.  this is a worksheet that was handed out.  One copy is due for each group.

-Today we went over some examles of testable questions.  Please see notes below.
