  • All of the grade 6, 7 and 8 students on the Red Team ( French Immersion) will again be participating in the local radio station's Food Drive. We are asking students to please bring in non-perishable food donations to their homeroom teacher. During the afternoon of October 5th, we will walk the donations down and present them to the radio station. In previous years we have had a hugely successfuly campaign and we hope this year will be our biggest as it will be our last at HMS.
  • Picture envelops have gone home yesterday, if you would like to order school pictures please fill out envelop and return to homeroom teacher by Wednesday September 28th, 2016, if you would like your child to have a retake, please write RETAKE on the envelop and return to homeroom teacher. 
  • HMS will be having our last Terryx Fox Walk Thursday September 29th in the afternoon, we are asking any student who wishes to participate to bring in $1.00 to their homeroom teacher on or before Thursday. Thank you for your support.

Français 6E (ealy immersion)

  • They have received their first booklet of the year " La rentrée", the completed booklet is due Tuesday October 11th. This booklet is not meant to be done all in one day/evening. Students have been explained they should work on it 10-15 minutes each night as a review of vocabulary words. Each activity has been explained and a few examples have been done with them for their understanding. They are permitted to use their dictionary for any words they don't understand or ask the teacher for extra help.

 

Français 6L (late immersion)

  • Students were given 12 spelling words to study this week, they will have their first spelling quiz Monday October 3rd. The students should be practising their words both orally and written. We have worked together on using them in sentences, students should have this in their binder up to #8, some students were asked to re-write their words and sentences as they had not followed instruction. I will be checking for their re-written work tomorrow.

  • September book orders (Scholastic) went home last week. Order forms and money/cheque (payable to Scholastic) are due on Monday September 26th, 2016 ( Ms. Richardson)

  •  ****Very important students are asked to color 2 of their 3 schedules ( the non-colored one, is to stay home for your reference). This will help them in staying organized throughout the year! 1 colored schedule will be attached to the front cover of their agenda, the other will be placed on the inside of their locker door for easy access.

  • Students have permission to take their lock home and practice opening it, if they are having difficulty please let them know not to stress and this usually takes a few weeks to get use to.
  • Students are asked to color 2 of their 3 schedules ( the non-colored one, is to stay home for your reference). We would also like for them to label their own duo-tangs at home with the following information (name, 6E, Subject)....they only require 1 duo-tang of each color right now.
  1. Purple- Exploratory ( Tech 1, Tech 2, Health, Art)
  2. Yellow- Math
  3. Green- Français + 1 binder + 5 dividers
  4. Red- Science humaine
  5. Orange- Language Arts
  6. Blue- Science
  7. Any color which is not listed above ( Math Opérations, Education Physique/gym, musique.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all my students, parents and guardians for another wonderful year. We have shared many wonderful times together and laughs. I am wishing everyone a very safe, peaceful, relaxing but must of all FUN summer break. To my terrific grade 6's who are returning to Gretna Green I will miss you very much, and wishing you the best in grade 7. To those who are staying at HMS, I can't wait to see you all again in September :-)
