New Reading Journals were assigned to gr. 7 and 8 yesterday.  All RJ's need to be at least a half page long and be based on the book that they are currently reading independently.  They are due on Friday, Jan. 22.

Gr. 7 prompt- Select a character and an event and predict what the outcome will be (without reading ahead) based on the evidences from the text.  What problem is the character currently dealing with?  How are they reacting to it?  How do you think the character will overcome this conflict, or will they?  Sample is attached below.

Gr. 8 prompt- Making inferences- Think about a decision that one of the characters in your novel has made.  Explain the decision to me (give me enough background information to be able to follow you).  What did that decision teach you about that character? Sample is attached below.

All classes were given a hand out today showing all assignments and due dates for LA between now and Christmas break.  These sheets need to be signed by tommorrow.  7A- A new RJ was assigned today. 7A, 7/8B, and 8A will be going on a field trip to the Fish Hatchery on Monday, Oct. 26.  Please make sure you dress warmly and wear appropriate footwear.  We will be leaving first thing in the morning, so please be on time on Monday.  We will be back to the scholl around 11:15. Homework:7A- Work on your persuasive pieces.  We are at the editing and revising stage.  Final, typed copies will be due on Nov. 4.7/8B- get your RJ 2 signed.  Work on your persuasive pieces.  We are at the editing and revising stage.  Final, typed copies will be due on Nov. 3.8A- Your SS test has been delayed due to the field trip and soccer jamboree on Tuesday.  Your test will now be on WEDNESDAY, OCT. 28.  Please also have your SS duotangs organized to hand in on that day.  8E2- Please continue to work on editing and revising your memoir.  Final copies will likely be due on Nov. 2 or 3 (depends on how next week goes).

7A SS- There will be a test on Friday, Oct. 23 on the notes that we took in class yesterday (attached).  A written reflection on student bote is due on Wednesday, Oct. 21.   LA- 15 mins. reading.  Get RJ 1 signed.  Make sure persuasive piece 2 is written for Monday (most students are finished).Reading Journal 2 is due on Tuesday, Oct. 20.  This weeks prompt is a repeat of their first journal:  Making Connections: text to self, text to text, text to world.  Does this book remind you of another book that you have read in the past? Does it remind you of something you have experienced in real life?
