Halloween Spirit Week happens October 27th-Oct 31st here at HMS. Homerooms will face off of a chance at winning the coveted Golden Sneaker Award. Points for participation will be awarded throughout the week. Here is a list of the daily dresscode and activities:

The Red Team will be hosting the Halloween social on Friday night from 6:00-8:30 pm. Come dressed in a costume for a chance to win a prize for best costume. Please remember that full face masks are not allowed. There will a canteen and photo booth available. Admission is $5. We hope to see you all on Friday night!
Any parents interested in chaperoning, please contact your child's homeroom teacher.

Learn how people in your community are applying Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math in their work every day. Talk to the experts! Step into their shoes! Test out the tools and equipment used in their jobs! Illuminate! is a fun family event that sparks inspiration through hands-on play and discovery. That’s Wednesday, October 22nd, 6:00 – 7:30 pm at Harkins Middle School, 301 Campbell Street, Miramichi.Open to the Public. Admission is FREE.
Once again this year, Harkins Middle School waged a very successful Gas Card Fundraiser for our school. We would like to congratulate Burton Mahoney, Deb Halley, Aaron McCutcheon, Rheal Roy, Jamie Preston, Cynthia Wylie, and Charles McCafferty, our $100 gas card winners; Bev Cook, our second-place winner ($500 in ESSO gas cards); and Wade Steeves, the winner of our grand prize ($1500 in ESSO gas cards)! Wade’s 6-year old son actually purchased Wade’s ticket for him without his knowledge!

Harkins Middle School will be celebrating Spirit Day on Thursday October 16th by wearing purple to stand up to bullying and support Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Questioning (LGBTQ) youth. Spirit day has become an international event. Observed annually since 2010, individuals, schools, organizations, corporations and public figures wear purple, which symbolizes "spirit" on the rainbow flag. Don't forget to wear purple on Thursday!
