Welcome To Our Page

Students have chosen their favorite genre of poetry to work with and completed a final poem for our poetry/lyric unit.  They are to find a way to artistically represent their poems for our showcase on Wednesday, May 18th.  This will happen first period (8:35 - 9:25) in the common room.  Classes, parents, staff and administration are welcome to view our Poetry Pavilion.

Students have received the permisson forms for our Mount Allison trip on June 15th.  They can be returned as soon as they are filled out and signed.  The cost is $115.00 and cheques can be made out to Harkins Middle School as we will be doing one final cheque from the school as payment.  Money doesn't have to be in until the first week in June; this gives students time to save and fundraise if they choose.  We may need a parent volunteer or two depending on numbers of students attending.

Students should be talking about, planning and working on their Science Fair projects. They are due the week after March Break (7A March 16th, 8A and 7/8B March 17th).  I encourage groups to think of an everyday problem and try to invent something to fix it!  Rubrics will be posted and handed out to students as we get closer to our due date.  Whether students are working with the more traditional experimental projects, or trying something new like coding, the focus is on skills.

Recently, 8A students have handed in Journal #4 based on a character of their choice in either their own novel or from Totally Joe.  We have also completed our first memoir and the students created our rubric.  Journal #4 will be coming home on Thursday to be signed.

There are two waivers to sign and return that students have.  All the details are located on the first letter to parents (and is attached below).  Cost of the trip is $30.00 but we can set up payment plans in order for all interested to attend.  Tickets on our Valentine basket are also available from all students for two dollars only.  All funds raised will help to pay for our transportation.  I can't wait to hit the slopes!

Both waivers and fees are due by February, 19th.

Don't forget 8A to bring in your yummy breakfast items for tomorrow morning!  We can heat things up at school and I will be supplying all the toast, butter, syrup, utensils and one dozen scrambled eggs.  Bring you festive smiles!
We will be finding time on Wednesday during Student Enhancement for 8A to finish up their presentations.  Friday will hopefully have some time for 7/8B to finish up and 7A will be able to present last period tomorrow (Wednesday).  Can't wait!
