Homework September 18th

The projector and smartboard in my room are not working.  I will not be able to post class notes until a new projector is installed.   Science 8L   -8L was in the science lab today learning how to use a microscope. -Quiz next class   Math 7L1 and 7L2 -P 18 Q 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 -P 19 Q 7 and 8   Science 7L2 -We will present our ecosystem projects next day 1   Science 8E1 -Students will start to learn about cells.  We will be working on a project where students are being given a lot of freedom to choose how they will show that they have learned the curriculum outcomes.   Past examples are on my teacher page.  Students were very excited about the possibility of showing their knowledge in a way that is meaningful to them.  Rubrics will be available at the start of next week for each option so that students know exactly what is expected of them.

Homework for September 15th

Grade 8 students using microscopes   Science 8E1 and 8E2 ·         We were in the lab today learning how to focus our microscopes.  Students completed a lab sheet on scientific drawings. ·         Students have a quiz next class on the parts of the microscopes.  They made a study guide in class last week to review for the quiz. ·         See pictures from today in the photo gallery Math 7L2 ·         Today we started algebra.  Notes are posted below. ·         Reducing fraction review sheet that was handed out Friday is due this Friday.  ·         Quiz tomorrow on divisibility rules. ·         Marked work was passed back to be signed. Science 7L1 ·         Marked work was passed back to be signed. ·         Notes posted below.  Finish defining words for homework Math 7L1 ·         Review sheet on reducing fractions is due Friday.  Students were given today’s class to work on it. ·         Marked work was passed back to be signed ·         Quiz tomorrow on divisibility rules.

Homework Sept 12th

Homework Sept 11th

Science 8L -Finish worksheet on microscopes   Math 7L1 and 7L2 -Page 12 Q1 is for homework. -Worksheet on Leçon 1 et 2 is our first assignment and it is due Friday.  Some time will be given in class tomorrow.   Science 7L2 -We reviewed vocabulary today -We also had time to work on our projects today in the computer lab. -Quiz next class (Friday) on the vocabulary.   Science 8E1 -Notes below -Students need to complete their study sheet on the microscope.

Homework Sept 10th

Science 8L -Notes posted below -We learned about the 7 characteristics of living things.   Math 7L1 -Notes posted below -A review booklet for X and dividing was passed out.  Students should have the first page (30) completed for next class.  It is included in the notes below   Science 7L1 -Students have the rubric of how they will be marked for the ecosystem project. -Students have picked their animals. -Students need to bring some research to next class.   -Math 7L2 -I was absent for this class so we will correct page 9 next day -Students were given a review booklet for multiplying and dividing.  This is two concepts students should know well from previous grades.   Science 7L2 -Substitute gave out the rubric of how students will be graded for the project -Students should come to next class with some research on the animal they chose. -Students have the option of working in groups of 2 or 3 or working individually. -We will work on this project over the next two weeks. -Samples of past work are in the image galleries.

Homework September 9th

Science 8E1 -Q 1-4 on worksheet -see notes below   Science 8E2 -Finish worksheet -See notes below containing worksheet in case you forgot it at school   Math 7L2 and 7L1 -See notes attached below -We continued to work on divisibility rules.  Students should memorise them. -Homework is page 9 Q 3 and 6.  Use a ven diagram to show your work. Don't forget to state the rules/tricks used in your reasoning.   Science 7L1 -Students were given a sheet to explain how our project will be marked. -Students need to decied if they will work individually or in groups of 2 or 3. One shoe box is needed per group -Examples of past work are in image gallery -Students will work on the project in class and present the end of next week. -I have a lot of craft supplies in my class.  Students may want to bring in some stuff from around home (rocks, branches...) -Notes from todays class with the new terms are posted below.  Students need to memorize the new terms.

Science 8L -Info sheet due back Sept 10th -Discover book activity due Sept 10th   Math 7L1 -Parent info sheet to be signed and returned. -Discover book activity   Math 7L2 -Study divisibility rules.  (Class notes will be posted tomorrow as the desktop computer is not up and running yet)   Science 8E1 -Parent info sheet due next class -Discover book activity due next class - We started to talk about the Characteristics of living things.
