Here is your homework for the week.

 

Grade 6

- Read for 20 minutes each night find sparks (use stickies)

- Find 3 new words from your novels for Friday

 

Grade 7

- Read one chapter of Cowboys Don't Cry (write extra information for your stickies this week)

- Print a poem off the internet (if you haven't already done so in class). Start your analysis.

Hi everyone,

I hpe that you all have had a wonderful relaxing break with family and friends.

Here is the homework for this week.

Grade 6

- Use review sheet and figurative language sheet to study for L.A. test Friday.

- Article of the week (Bungee Jumping) is due on Friday

- The students who did not pass in their journal entry please do so Friday January 8th.

- Read nightly (20 - minutes) and collect stickies.

Grade 7

- Read 1 chapter of Cowboys Don't Cry (use stickies). Be prepared to give input into our discussion each day.

- Article of the week is due on Friday

- Journal entries that were not passed in the week before Christmas are also due on Friday Jan. 28th.

- Review your poetry handout to study theme, mood, tone etc.

Hi everyone, I hope you are all well rested and ready to dig into the new term. *** Nov. 30 th will be the deadline for donations for our Christmas basket. We certainly do appreciate the support and hope that this fund raiser will be a huge success. Tickets for the basket will be given out to students on Dec. 3rd. **** Homework for grade 7:- Read 20 minutes nightly and mark important parts with stickies. - Pass in your Circle of Viewpoints paragraphs on the Pigman characters on Friday. Homework for grade 6:- Read 20 minutes nightly and mark important parts with stickies- Finish part 2 of your worksheet on run on paragraphs Have a great week!Mrs. Gregan

Hi everyone,  I hope you all had an enjoyable weekend! Below is the information needed for the upcoming week. Homework Grade 6 and 7:- Read 20 minutes nightly (log and use stickies)- Finsh the Circle of Viewpoints Activity Sheet and write one paragraph on each character to be handed in and marked for Thursday. Hi Everyone, On Thursday November 12th (in the afternoon) we will be having our HMS Annual Student vs. T-WOLVES basketball game. This is a fundraiser for the Red Team, students who like to watch the game and have a chance to win T-Wolves tickets will need to pay $1.00. There will also be a free throw competition ( $1.00) during half time, prizWe would also like to congratulate Robert McAllister and Brianna Aubé for being Purple Team's Students of the Week  for November 2nd-6th, 2015. . Wonderful hard workers, keep up the fantastic job!Skating: Purple Team will be skating Friday November 13th, 2015. First bus run will be leaving at 10:15 (second immediately following), we will be skating until 11:35 ( first return bus will be at 11:40, and second immediately after).Please note students are to have skates and helmet to come to the rink (parents/guardians may bring their child's equipment directly to the rink if they would like).Also, students should be able to tie their own skates, please practices this at home with them. We have 67 students on the team and only 3 teachers to supervise on and off the ice. Parents are always welcome to join us at the rink. :-) Home work for this week is reading only. (Don't forget to log on your brand new log sheets and don't forget to put on your stickies.)Don't forget to get your parent or guardian to sign your book talks or journal entries. You may pass your journal entries in for corrections on Thursday at the latest.  Have a great week!Mrs. Gregan

Hi Everyone,  I hope you all had a safe and fun Halloween! Below is your homework for this week.-Read and log nightly (Don't forget to put your stickies!)- Practice your book talks if you haven't already presented. (Remember to pick a good passage to read, have a clear voice, and restate the plot. Follow the rubric provided in class.)-Corrections on articles or journal entries! (Please hand in by Friday.) House Keeping items:We would like to congratulate Kiersten Hamilton for being Student of the Month for October on the Purple Team! Kiersten can always be observed helping others, she has a big and king heart and we would like to congratulate her for being a fantastic role model for others. Hi everyone, I hope that you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving long weekend. Here are some things that are happening this week. Oct. 14 - Student vote (We will be holding our own student voting for the federal election right here in the common room.)Oct. 15- Spirit day for LGTBQ (Please don't forget to wear Purple.) Homework for the week: - Read nightly20-30 minutes (Don't forget to log the page you started at and page that you read last. Also don't forgot to use those sticky notes to mark the sparks you are finding in your book. Examples of sparks:  1) if something you wonderd about in the book was answered 2) if you read a part that makes you question something 3) if you make a deep connection with something that is happening 4) if you find a great word that helps you understand the author's intention. 5) if you learned something new about a character. **** Last weeks article corrections need to be handed in tomorrow at the latest. **** *** Sparks collected since the beginning of the year need to be brought to class tomorrow as well. ***- Article of the week is due on Friday. (Please read the questions carefully and make sure you understand what they are asking. Some questions are asking for more than one piece of information.
