Honorable Readers and Friends: Our Harkins Middle School Oratory  will be held Tuesday morning, April 27 @ 8:45 in the gym. Harkins participated in a Lights Out Canada initiative today in honor of Earth Day.  We shut off the lights and brought awareness to the Global Warming crisis.  There are many good things going on at Harkins Middle to help the environment including paper and bottle recycling, 'No-Idle' zones and the Green Ribbon Club.  There are many things that we can do to become better Global citizens.  For great tips, check out the Lights Out Canada site at :  http://www.lightsoutcanada.tpweb.ca/ Be Green Harkins!

Rebuilding Haiti through Education, One Pencil at a TimeHarkins Middle School, in partnership with Duncan Dee, Chief Operating Officer of Air Canada and his wife Mary, are working to help eleven year old Carlos, a boy from Haiti, rebuild his community through education.  Having lost everything, including his family, in the earthquake, he needs our help to support his makeshift school.  Even at a young age, Carlos knows that education is the key to making a better and enriching life.  Let’s help him by donating much needed school supplies and French reading material.  Monetary donations will al

We are currently into our Spring Spirit Week which will lead up to the Fairy Tale Social on Friday.  Dress code and daily activities at lunch include: Tuesday:  Wear a Flowered Shirt; Butterfly Race Wednesday:  Bumblebee Day (Black and Yellow Clothing); Flower Hunt Thursday:  Rainbow Day (Must wear all of Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue Violet, Indigo); Charades Friday:  Blue and White Day (Harkins School Colors); Wheelbarrow Races Social Friday 6-8:30pm; DJ Colby Jardine; $5 admission; Canteen and Photos available; School Rules and Dresscode apply; Proceeds go to Drama!

Twenty five students from the Red Team will begin a 30 Hour Famine Friday morning, after breakfast.  They will end the fast on Saturday with a Potluck.  Student raised over $2000 dollars for people in need and even hosted a charity basketball game today, with the Varsity Boys winning against the Varsity Girls by one basket.  Thank you to everyone who supported the cause!
