On Wednesday, Oct. 14 HMS will be participating, along with hundreds of schools across Canada in a mock election called Student Vote. Over the past month, the students at Harkins have learned about the democratic process, the political parties and their platforms, as well as our local candidates. After many hours of study and heated debate, our students will make an informed decision at the polls on Wednesday! For more information about the mock election visit www.studentvote.ca.
On October 2nd, HMS students walked down the hill to 95.9 SunFM to drop off food donations for the food bank. Paddy Q said it was one of the highlights of his day! Awesome stuff, HMS!
Once again this year, Harkins Middle School waged a very successful Gas Card Fundraiser for our school. We would like to congratulate Sia Koulis, our second-place winner ($500 in ESSO gas cards), and Pat Hannah, the winner of our grand prize ($1500 in ESSO gas cards)!
As part of the engagement process for developing a 10-Year Education Plan, we encourage parents to participate in this initiative by visiting the Education Plan Website. You can access more information and offer your comments by completing the online survey: www.EducationPlanNB.ca

HMS gets active! Our new daily walking program (in the morning before the 8:13am bell) has been a huge success. This, coupled with our breakfast program, allows students to be sharp and ready to learn for the day. Good Morning, Harkins!
