Students from 6E will be skating from 10:15-11:00 at the Civic Center, they are required to have skates and helmet. Parents/guardians are invited to join them. Students who are not skating will require a written note sent to their homeroom teacher indicating why they are not skating.

  •  HMS Remembrance Day Ceremony is this Thursday November 10th at 9am in our gym, all our welcome to attend. 
  • Scholastic book orders for the month of November are due November 23rd. Many items in the pamphlet would make great Christmas gifts, if you would like to purchase something as a gift, please e-mail me and we can set up a private way for payment and pick up of books. 
  • 6E will be skating on Thursday November 10th from 10:15-11:15 at the Civic Center, parents and guardians are invited to join them if they wish. Students will require skates and helmet. We have numerous pairs of skates and helmets in the office area in which student's can borrow.

    • Students have received their second booklet " L'Halloween", this is due on Monday November 14th. Students are only to be working on this 10-15 minutes per night, this is not meant to be completed all in one day. These booklets are nice little activities to help with reading comprehension, vocabulary etc..
    • Running records ( student evaluation of reading level) have been concluded. Each student was given their reading level at this time, and explained where they are in comparaison to the end goal for grade 6. Students MUST be reading each night a book at their level, they will choose a book on Monday's and read the same book for 1 week, the next Monday they will exchange their book for a new one at their level. Running records will be done 1-2 per term. 
    • Get quiz #5  spelling signed, and rewrite the words they got wrong 3 times.
    • Study spelling words week #6, and complete 1 sentence per word. Spelling sentences and quiz are due on Monday November 14th, 2016.

  • Study and practice the following verbes ( Présent Indicatif + Passé composé) 1. avoir 2. être 3. aller 4. faire. They will be receving pop quizzes throughout the year....they must know these 4 verbes inside and out!
  • Read each night, they will choose 1 or 2 books and read the same ones each night for 1 week, then they will change their books each week.   • Monday October 31st- Orange and Black Day- Last day for Spirit Week!
 
  • Students who sold tickets in 6E will have a pizza party on Monday October 31st for lunch ( 6E was the winning class), cupcakes will be for dessert. Student must provide their own beverage and if they want a different dessert they may choose to bring some extra snacks for themselvesl. During French class we will be watchin a movie ( in French) also part of the reward.

Running Records will be done 1-2 times per term, to identify the areas in which they need to work on with their reading and to see if their reading level has improved over each term.
    • Get quiz #3 spelling signed, and rewrite the words they got wrong 3 times.
    • Spelling Quiz #4 Monday October 31st  (study words and work on completing 1 sentence for each spelling word). Sentences are due on Monday October 31st (they have a week to complete this).

Français 6L (late immersion)

  • Students have received their second booklet " L'Halloween", this is due on Monday November 14th. Students are only to be working on this 10-15 minutes per night, this is not meant to be completed all in one day. These booklets are nice little activities to help with reading comprehension, vocabulary etc...
  • I have evaluated each student orally with their numbers 1-20, 20-50, 50-70 and 70-100. If they didn't know there numbers automatically without making any mistakes, they should be reviewing and practicing them at home. They can go on YouTube and look up " chiffre en français" or " apprendred les chiffres en français" and there are all kinds of short video clips which can help them with learning their numbers.

  • Read each night, they will choose 1 or 2 books and read the same ones each night for 1 week, then they will change their books each week. It would be best practice to have them read out loud to someone. ****I have started their reading evaluations to identify their reading level, they will be receiving a letter with the information indicating their reading level at this time and strategies which can help them, they will also be starting a reading log next week.

Français 7E

  • Students have concluded their draft of their writing piece " Fiche descriptive", they are now in the process of editing/ correting their written piece with the help of a 6 step guide. 
  • Study and practice the following verbes ( Présent Indicatif + Passé composé) 1. avoir 2. être 3. aller 4. faire. They will be receving pop quizzes throughout the year....they must know these 4 verbes inside and out!
  • Read each night, they will choose 1 or 2 books and read the same ones each night for 1 week, then they will change their books each week. It would be best practice to have them read out loud to someone. ***** I have started running records ( which is to evaluate their reading level) in French, once their reading level is established student's should be reading books only at their level.
