Math - 8 - Beginning unit on operations with Fractions. Title page and notes should be completed

Math - 7 - Sheets on Equivalent fractions and reducing fractions should be completed and ready to begin adding fractions

Math 7 and 8 : all students should be working on their mathletics accounts. Assignments are all up to date and will be counted for a mark this term. Students should be working on these assignments at least 2 nights per week. Students without computer access at home were informed to use the computers at school during homework period at least 2 times per week.  A WEBLINK has been added to this site for quick access.

MATHLETICS

All students are to be working weekly on Mathletics. This is homework and will be counted as an assignment mark. Please encourage your child to keep up with their assignments at least 2 nights per week.

Homeroom 7A: Notice went home concerning "Class Potluck" next week. Please read the sheet carefully and return the bottom portion. 7A and B: Math assessment will be Tuesday December 16th. We are reviewing on a daily basis. Students should be working on Mathletics 2 to 3 night per week for no less than 15 minutes. Each lesson has a tutorial and a video tutorial to demonstrate the skill presented.  8A: Math Assessment will be Monday the 15th of December. We are reviewing daily. Homeroom: Social this Friday. This is not a dress up social just a regular dance. 7A and B: We continue to review concepts to get prepared for the District Bencmark Assessment next week. As well we are working on Decimals and Fractions. Students can practice converting from a decimal to a fractions and knowing the difference between a terminating and repeating decimal. 8A: We continue to review concepts to get prepared for the District Bencmark Assessment next week. Students played an Integers Card game based on the War card game. Students worked on ordering and comparing skills, knowledge of integer numbers, cooperative skills, Reasoning and Strategy skills and most importantly they had Fun!!

Homeroom: Students went skating today.  Newsletters went home.  7A and B - Math: We have started review for the Math District Assessment that will be written the week of December 14th. We are also working on our Fraction, Decimal, and Whole Number unit.  8A - Math: We have started review for the Math District Assessment that will be written the week of December 14th. We Also are working on our Pythagorean Theorem Unit. P. 34 # 4, 5 and 6 should be completed ALL MATH STUDENTS SHOULD BE WORKING ON MATHLETICS NO LESS THAN 2 TIMES PER WEEK FOR 20 MINUTES. THIS IS PART OF THEIR ASSIGNMENT MARK FOR TERM 2.

Students in 7/8B and 8A played "Integer War" in class today. This was an amusing format for learning away from the old paper nd pencil routine. This was also great way for them to use their math reasoning skills while also reviewing integer concepts. Please check out the photos in the gallery! 8A MATH: We will begin our new unit on Pythagorean Theorem tomorrow as we get closer to the district benchmark assessment.Students should be working 2 nights a week or more on their mathletics accounts to work on NB curriculum outcomes we already covered to date.7 MATH: We are starting our Fractions, Decimals, and Fractions unit tomorrow.  7A, 7/8B, and 8A will be going on a field trip to the Fish Hatchery on Monday, Oct. 26.  Please make sure you dress warmly and wear appropriate footwear.  We will be leaving first thing in the morning, so please be on time on Monday.  We will be back to the school around 11:15. 8A - a practice sheet for equations and tables should be completed for Monday7A and B - p.27 #1   p. 28 #2, 4 and 5P.29 #2, 4, 5, 8

Homeroom: Some PLP's are in agendas. Please look for a brown envelope to be reviewed, signed and returned. Grade 7 Math: All classes started a new unit on Expressions, tables and graphs, Chapter 1 in the textbook. Homework is an expression sheet and #10 p.19 in the textbook. Homework will be checked tomorrow. Test #2 needs to be signed Grade 8: . Started new unit on table of values and graphing. Sheet and p.356 #4, 5 and 6 need to be completed. Test #2 needs to be signed.
