Before I begin talking about our Anti-Bullying Week Activities. I would like everyone to know that HMS will be having several events throughout the school year to address bullying. A student anti-bullying team has been developed to provide the students with empowering opportunities to learn and do more in reference to bullying. The goal is to increase student awareness and get us talking about the seriousness of this issue.   Here are the activities: Tomorrow during student enhancement, students, with the direction of their teacher will create a poster with an anti-bullying theme. We will be working on these posters on Friday the 21st and Monday the 23rd.   On Tuesday we will have our “Everything Blue Day”. We want as many people as possible to wear our school colors to show support for our stand against bullying. Feel free to come to school with your face painted as well. On Tuesday and Thursday afternoon we will begin working on a “Class Pledge” against bullying. This pledge will be posted somewhere in the classroom for everyone to sign. Friday will wrap up Anti-Bullying week with a class activity where students will share what they would do in a variety of bullying situations. The Anti-Bullying committee at our school would like to encourage all of you to be thinking and talking about what bullying is and what all of us can do to stop it.

Just a reminder to all members of our school community. We will be having a Anti-Bullying Awareness week from Sept 21st to the 28th. I encourage everyone to spend time talking to children about Bullying and the options that are available to help them. If you are not sure how to help the child, please let us know and we will coordinate a resolution for the situation. I also encourage everyone to not only talk to children about bullying during Anti-Bullying Awareness, but at other times throughout the school year as well. Check in to my teacher page periodically for updates on our Anti-Bullying Week!   "Kindness is the sunshine in which virtue grows."  Robert Green Ingersol (1833-1899) American politician and orator
