In Boys Varsity Jamboree Action: As per Mr Menzies: The Harkins Huskies are District and Varsity Champs, after two convincing wins during their playoff rounds...............In game 1 vs Nelson, the boys stormed out for a 6-0 victory, as five different players found the back of the net. Mikey McCarthy with a pair, Ryan Stephens, Johnny Kingston, Johnny "Buck" Henderson, and grade six rookie sensation, Brayden Allain with one apiece.

William Falconer achieved his goal and took home a first place ribbon for the grade 7 boys at the district race at French Fort Cove last night.  Way to go, Will!  Tristan Eisnor also had a strong 4th place finish in the final race.  Way to go team Harkins!

Our final meet will be at French Fort Cove on Wednesday at 3:45pm.  You should have plenty of time to complete the event and still attend the dance at 6pm (...with a rosy, exercise-induced glow from the race!)  See you there runners!

The Grade 8 WEB Leaders have organized a Halloween Spirit Week for next week, October 28th-Nov 1st.  Homeroom classes will face off for a chance to win the coveted HMS Golden Sneaker Award.   The challenges are as follows: Monday, October 28th Wear a Spider Day!         Tuesday, October 29th Crazy Hair Day!   &   Horrifying Jello-Eating Contest! (To be held in the SCIENCE LAB during your class’ recess portion of lunch.)   (Sarah, Breanne, Tanner) Wednesday, October 30th Wear a pumpkin day!   &

In cross country action tonight, Will Falconer came out of the woodwork and took on the speedster “Gareth of Dr Losier’ in a tight race at the Nelson field.  Will finished in a close second and fans and organizers were thrilled that Will now offers some serious rivalry to the Losier champ.  The final cross country meet will take place on Wednesday, October 30th at 3:45pm at French Fort Cove (unless otherwise stated).

Marco has decided to join Facebook™. A week after posting his profile, he discovers he has two friends. After another week, his number of friends has doubled to four. At the end of the third week, his total number of friends has doubled yet again to 8.a) If his number of friends continue to double each week, how many friends will Marco have at the end of 6 weeks?

The HMS CHAT club is busy selling Halloween candy-grams in support of our sponsor child Andrew.  Andrew is an orphan in Uganda and Harkins helps support him through the charity CHAT to the future.  CHAT stands for Care and Hope through Adoption and Technology and was started by a teacher and group of students at Saint John High School.  On November 18th, the Harkins CHAT club will be able to Skype with the children of CHAT house in Uganda.  You can find more about CHAT to the future on their website: www.chattothefuture.org.

There will be a cross country meet at Nelson at 3:45pm on Tuesday night this week.  We will clarify the date on Monday.On Monday (Oct 21st) there will be practice in the back field from 3-3:45pm.
