The Harkins Drama Club and The Yellow Exploratory Team will be hosting a Spring social this Friday night from 6-8:30pm.  The DJ will be Drew Hunter and a canteen will be available and a photo booth too.  $5 at the door.  Come dance up a storm and celebrate the new beginnings of Spring!

Harkins Middle School (HMS) will be holding their 2014 Heritage Fair on Thursday, April 24th.  This event provides a cross curricular opportunity for our entire school to learn more about our communities i.e. local, provincial, national.  As many as 26 student projects will be on display for viewing by judges, school staff, students, and participants’ family.  Judging will take place from 9am to 12noon followed by viewing of projects by HMS students and staff from 1pm to 2:50pm.

Harkins Middle School received an ArtsSmarts grant that allowed grade 7 Red Team students to participate in creative inquiry regarding our community’s heritage and culture.  ArtsSmarts is about teachers and artists working together with student to explore relevant issues through curriculum based artistic engagement.  As part of HMS 2014 ArtsSmarts projects, students worked under the direction of Mr.

A team of scientists surveying a woodlot found that there were 4 oak trees for every 10 pine trees. If they counted 24 more pine trees than oak trees in total, how many oak trees were there in the woodlot?  All solutions must be submitted by noon time on Wednesday, April 16.

Do you have a child who will be in grade 7 or grade 9 next year?Did you know?• Several important vaccines are offered to students in grades 7 and 9 in New Brunswick • These vaccines are free • These vaccines are given at the school by Public Health Nurses The following vaccines are available to students entering grade 7 or 9: Grade 7 • All students are offered a vaccine that protects against tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (whooping cough). • Female students only are offered a vaccine that protects against the human papillomavirus (HPV), which is the leading cause of cervical cancer.
