Harkins Middle School (HMS) will be holding their 2014 Heritage Fair on Thursday, April 24th. This event provides a cross curricular opportunity for our entire school to learn more about our communities i.e. local, provincial, national. As many as 26 student projects will be on display for viewing by judges, school staff, students, and participants’ family. Judging will take place from 9am to 12noon followed by viewing of projects by HMS students and staff from 1pm to 2:50pm.
HMS is pleased to announce that we have a very special guest for our 2014 Heritage Fair. Mr. “Woodchuck” Bernard, WoodChuck Woodcarving Bouctouche Baie , NB, will showcase his many incredible Acadian carvings and answer questions regarding his teaching and work. Joining Woodchuck will be several HMS students who, along with all grade 7 Red Team students, will attend a full day woodcarving workshop with Woodchuck. This workshop is made possible through a generous ArtsSmarts grant.
HMS Heritage Fair finalists will be announced on the afternoon of April 24th. These students will then represent HMS in a Regional Heritage Fair being held Tuesday, April 29th at Superior Middle School in Bathurst.
