Posted: May 15, 2011

Hello All! We had a stellar time at Drama Festival 2011, last week.  Aside from seeing plays, participating in workshops and dancing-it-up, we came away with the following recognition awards:   Outstanding Actor:  Jared Malley Outstanding Supporting Actors:  Samantha Godin and Lauren Henderson Outstanding Use of Costume:  HMS Drama Club Special Ajudicator's Mention for Casting:  Ms Tucker & Ms Barrieau We will perform our highly acclaimed play "Dress Rehearsal for Murder" with our fantastic opening skits this WEDNESDAY at 7pm for the public at the MVHS theatre.  $5 at the door.  Come one, come all!  You will not be disappointed! We will perform two shows earlier in the day (morning) for our fellow Harkins students.  We will have a line run-through Tuesday at lunch.  Everyone is required to attend. In other news, winner of the Awesome Drama Mother's Day Basket was Don Thurston.  Congratulations Don!  Please see the synopsis of our play below.  Also check out the photo gallery:  http://hms.nbed.nb.ca/gallery/drama-fest-2011 Yours in Drama, Ms Barrieau & Ms Tucker At the isolated Bide A Wee Bed and Breakfast, an eclectic group of guests, including the famous young heiress, Riviera Carlton, gather for some rest and relaxation.  When Riviera’s fiancé, Bernard the Mime, turns up dead and his body then disappears, the list of suspects is long — seems like there isn’t a man in the place who’s not vying for Riviera’s affection.  The list grows longer as secrets are revealed...  Bernard had also asked Bettye, a ridiculous “has-been” actress, to marry him.  Tensions heat up to a boiling point with the arrival of Ron “The Ronald” Carlton, Riviera’s father, who spouts “You’re fired!”  as if it were “Good day”!  And when Inspector Barish shows up with his newly acquired gun, which he has no idea how to use, it’s certifiable mayhem!  It takes every bit of logic and deduction for the inspector to solve the mystery of the missing mime.  With loads of quirky dialogue, zany stage action and a “no murder after all” ending, your audience will enjoy themselves so much they’ll want to bide a wee longer!
